Shu Xianghan’s art work exhibition was launched at Zhangjiajie College on December 6 and will continue till December 16.
68 representative paintings by Shu Xianghan, a painter from Xiangxi Prefecture, who has been engaged in artistic creation for 50 years, are on exhibition. His figure paintings are the combination of traditional national culture and features of the times.
He has delved into the lives of ethnic minorities in Xiangxi and transformed the real life and labor scenes of the people into artistic expression, showcasing the simplicity of laborers in the western Hunan. He created the Chinese painting character exhibition in three years based on more than 40 outstanding figures from the Wuling Mountain area who fought with their lives for the country and the nation since the Opium War in 1840, which showcased a vivid portrait of the revolutionary heroes in the Wuling Mountain area.
This exhibition demonstrates an old artist’s persistence in life observation and aesthetic ideals for 50 years, as well as his dedication to art education and innovation as a college art teacher.
